Czech team Expres Auto Racing will compete in the 2023 TCR Eastern Europe season with two TCR Cupra Leon Competición cars for Vít Smejkal and Petr Čížek.
Čížek finished third in last year’s drivers’ standings driving for his countryman Petr Fulín’s team Fullinrace Academy team. For the new season he elected to join Smejkal’s Expres Auto Racing team.
Team principal Smejkal made his TCR Eastern Europe debut in 2022, taking part in three events at the wheel of a CUPRA TCR run in cooperation with Aiditis Racing Team. In 2023, however, he will complete in the full season switching to a new CUPRA Leon Competición.
“It was clear from the start that it would be best for the team to run two identical cars. This will simplify the logistics and reduce the room for errors. Petr will keep on driving last year’s car after a complete overhaul and I will be driving a new CUPRA that I went to buy in Barcelona in December,” Smejkal explained.
